Needlefish. Family Belonidae. They have a typical big mouth with long scissor-shape
mandibles and plenty of small, sharp and strong teeth, bigger at the upper mandible.
They can measure more than 70 cm in length.
They live in the whole European coast, both Mediterranean and Atlantic, up to Norway.
They swim very near the surface and frequently jump up to half a meter out of the water.
Horse mackerel is the young off-shore or blue jack mackerel, family Carangidae.
They have a fusiform greenish-grey body with silver sides and a lateral line with a significant curvature on the central body covered with scales turned into buds.
