Description : Potassium metabisulfite (PMBS) is a white to pale yellow, fine crystalline powder with a faint sulfur dioxide odor.
Storage & Handling :Potassium metabisulfite must remain cool and completely dry and must be kept separate from nitrites and sodium nitrate during transportation and storage. It decomposes at temperatures above 150°C.
Potassium metabisulfite absorbs moisture from the atmosphere and becomes oxidized.It is readily soluble in water. In aqueous solutions, PMBS becomes potassium hydrogensulfite (KHSO 3 ) and tends to form saturated solutions.
