Our Producer's aim is to harness the agricultural wealth of Kalamata-Messinia in the Peloponnese region, in Southern Greece. They follow the principles advocated by the concepts of “Fair trade” and “ethical consumerism”:
Organic farming & biodiversity
Our Producer's primary commitment is to offer products of certified farming and the reinforcement of biodiversity.
They select cultivations in mountainous areas, with a specific altitude and a view towards the sea, far from environmental burdens. The small producers in these areas combine optimum and mild cultivation procedures, thus reinforcing biodiversity and maintaining natural resources. For their local small producers, farming is a daily way of life. It conforms perfectly to their values and traditions. “Mountainous cultivations of exceptional biodiversity” is the name given to the farms they select and collaborate with, providing them with primary products under the condition that the final lab analysis will satisfy the high quality specifications required by our Producer.
Authenticity & traceability
Our Producer creates conditions of transparency and information during the production and distribution of our products.
By using a special label for the batch and bottle number, they ensure the authenticity and traceability of their products. In this way all consumers can determine accurately the area from which the product derives, understand the specifications of production throughout all the stages, and be accurately informed about the nutritional value of the products purchased. This is how they ensure the uniqueness of their products.
Their available product quantities are restricted, determined by the limited potentials of the “Mountainous cultivations of exceptional biodiversity”. They personally know the local producers ONE by ONE and ensure their commitment to their specifications and values.
For the olive oil, our Producer publishes the following information per batch (OL-999999-99)
Quality assurance procedures
Quality assurance of our Producer's products is their primary promise and commitment throughout all the stages of cultivation, production, harvesting, bottling and transportation of their products.
At the stage of production , the small local producers must comply with the quality specifications set by our Producer and follow the strict and qualitative production and cultivation processes. Furthermore, they inspect their collaborators' production practices through independent local agronomists, who record and deliver to them a written report concerning the suitability of the cultivations before harvest. During harvesting , an additional secondary inspection takes place from an independent office of consulting agronomists with long-term experience in organic products, based in Athens (www.dsorganic.com).
At the stage of processing our Producer's collaborators must comply with the following specifications:
The pressing of the olives takes place
Inspections during processing are continuous, unimpeachable and independent:
For the qualitative monitoring of the olive oil and the edible olives they collaborate with the OLITECN O.E. laboratory (www.olitecn.gr).
For the storage and transportation of their products they collaborate with VIANOX SVOLOS GROUP (www.vianox.gr).
