The History of Ionized Water
Water ionizer was first developed in Japan in 1950s. Initial experiments were conducted on plants and animals. Full scale development only started in 1954 by several Japanese agricultural universities on the effects of ionized water, especially acid water, on plants. Experiments conducted on human populations took much longer because of the difficulties in maintaining the consistencies of the environments. Dozens of molecules are dissolved in water, such as Ca+, Mg+, Na+, K+, Cl-, S-, P-, in tap water. During the electrolysis of water, alkaline ionic minerals such as Ca (Calcium), Mg (Magnesium), and K (Potassium), are gathered around the negative (-) pole, while acidic mineral ions such as Cl (Chlorine), S (Sulphur), P (Phosphorus), etc are gathered around the positive (+) pole. When a water molecule, H2O, is ionized, the molecules splits into two components: H+ and OH- . These ions in turn ionize minerals that are dissolved in the water, leading to an active chemical reaction. The alkaline minerals are used to detoxify poisonous acid compounds and when that happens the hydroxyl ion is freed to supply excess oxygen to the cells to scavenge free radicals. Further, the ionization process causes water and minerals to become ionic atomic molecules. Hence, these smaller molecule collections (clusters) enable easier absorption of both water and minerals by the body. Not only can we be re-hydrated faster, important minerals can also be easily replenished in the body.
