Alginate
KIMICA's propylene glycol alginate(PGA) is made by the esterification of the carboxyl groups in alginic asid with propylene glycol groups. Use of PGA overcomes problems which can arise when using unesterified alginates. With unesterified alginates undersired gelation or precipitation can occur, especially at asid pH values and in the presence of a high level of divalent cations. PGA can therefore be used with ease in low pH products and in products with high levels of divalent cations.
