Faster digesting proteins (like whey protein) are desirable immediately before and after physical exercise. But slow digesting proteins like Pure Casein are preferable between meals and before bedtime, when the body typically stays for hours without food. Compared to whey protein, it can take more than several hours for Pure Casein to brake down into amino acids.
Research shows that when you consume casein, you will reach a peak in blood amino acids and protein synthesis between three to four hours. The total release of amino acids in the bloodstream, however, can last as long as 8 hours after ingestion of Pure Casein protein!
Whey protein, in comparison, reaches a peak in blood amino acids and protein synthesis in about forty minutes and the total release ends in about an hour.
If you don’t take the required amount of protein per day you simply can not build muscle tissue. For best results you must take 2 grams of protein per kilo of body weight. Its best to divide the overall protein amount into 3-6 small meals every 2-3 hours.
