Kashmir Saffron or Crocus sativus kashmirianus is the best saffron among all the varieties. In Kashmir, Saffron is grown at Pampore, which is a place about 14km from Srinagar. It is grown only in a small stretch of land around 4km in breadth and 30km in length. The Saffron grown in this place is renowned in the world for its highest quality.

Saffron / Crocus sativus is grown only in 4 places in the world. Iran is the highest producer and exporter of Saffron followed by Spain and Greece. Kashmir produces the least quantity of Saffron accounting o less than 10% of the total yearly produce. Annually, Kashmir produces around 2500 kg of saffron. Although the quality of Kashmir Saffron is best, the produce is very little.
