Purple Corn
DESCRIPTION
Purple corn is a variety of Zea mays, yearly grass that grows between 1000 to 3000 m.a.s.l.
The stem is massive and straight, it grows up to 4 m.
Due to its nutritional value, it has been a component of the Andean gastronomy in the pre-Inca's age.
The dark purple of this plant is used to prepare a popular drink named "chicha morada", wich has a high content of phenols.
It has natural antioxidants.
COMPOSITION
Purple Corn is rich in phenols and anthocianines, such as other fitochemical components.
