The Littleford DVT Polyphase Reactor, which is a single apparatus that is designed to handle materials of varying composition which may pass through phases of liquid to doughy, to granular, to powder, and has the combined operational feature of pressure (250 PSIG @ 100oF), vacuum 29.9" Hg. and effective heat transfer (heating or cooling).
This Reactor operates according to the proven "fluidized bed" mixing principle whereby the materials being reacted are maintained in a mechanically fluidized suspended state, thus permitting the reacting mediums, gas-solid, or liquid-solid, to achieve intimate contact with each other and the heat transfer surfaces.
We have found that this will result in:
Controlled reaction through effective heat transfer
Improved reactions rates
Increased efficiencies of reaction
Ability to complete an entire process in a single unit
These are distinct advantages over an autoclave or slow moving ribbon agitated vessel whereby the contact between the heating medium and the material is more by diffusion and is therefore slow, uncontrolled, and takes place at different times throughout the material.
The basic design of the Littleford DVT Polyphase Reactor is a stationary horizontal cylinder, which is top loaded and bottom discharged. The standard tools are plow-shaped and radiate from a horizontal shaft that is supported by outboard bearings. Other mixing tool designs are also available. The basic mix action may be supplemented by high speed blending choppers that are positioned between adjacent plows for high shear applications. The shaft seals are double-faced, balanced, mechanical seals.
The Littleford DVT Polyphase Reactors are specifically designed and constructed according to "GMP" and can be specified to meet or exceed the sanitary requirements and ease of cleaning as required by the FDA, 3A, USDA and the Pharmaceutical Industry. The Littleford DVT Polyphase Reactors are built to ASME Code Standards.
