Red Tea, or Rooibos, Aspalathus linearis, is a shrubby legume indigenous to South Africa, which has historically been used to make an herbal infusion, initially just for consumption in South Africa but within the last 15 years increasingly for export to the Far East, Europe and more recently into the US. Rooibos contains anti-oxidants of the polyphenolic type. Polyphenols in plants often act as pigments, sunscreens, insect repellents, anti-oxidants and as antimicrobials.  And currently Rooibos is the only natural source of aspalathin.
