Different people mean different things when they mention Red Teas.
Firstly, it can be a unique style of tea, a subset of Green Tea, that due to a special method of fermentation yields a deep red-brown leaf that brews to produce a bright red liquor. Such a tea is Ceylon Hapugolla Red, a remarkable tea. At the time of writing we are the only suppliers of this tea in the UK.
Secondly, perhaps more commonly, it is Rooibos, or Red Bush tea from South Africa. This herbal tea, popularised by the No 1 Ladies Detective Agency novels, is well-known and a firm favourite.
Lastly - and we mention this purely for the sake of completeness - the Chinese tend to refer to what we think of as black or ordinary tea, as "red tea". If you look at your cup carefully you will see that there is indeed a redness to the hue of your tea. These teas are listed on this site under "black", because that is what we call them in the West.
