Robusta coffee beans
Robusta beans are one of the other major types of coffee beans. These beans mostly come from Vietnam and are used in about 20% of the world’s coffee production. One of the thing about coffee beans that makes them specific to certain regions is that they can be difficult to grow due to narrow requirements for the climate conditions in which coffee plants flourish.
Robusta beans, however, are a bit easier to grow and are therefore cheaper to produce. Because they are not considered the superior type of coffee bean, they are used in cheaper coffees and lower grade products such as Instant Coffee or as fillers for various types of coffee blends. Robusta coffee beans contain nearly twice as much caffeine as Arabica coffee, which some people may consider a positive quality, though this also results in a more bitter flavor.
