Properties / purpose & origin: The sage honey was made from the flower of a bushy sage tree. It is of excellent taste and smells like the flower. It is irreplaceable in case of respiratory organ difficulties because of its powerful antiseptic and soothing effect. It is very helpful with dry cough and bronchitis because it helps maturation and expectoration of the secretions from the airways. The curative properties of the sage honey account for one of the top-class honeys for healing respiratory system and strengthening immunity. We may say this is a high-quality honey by its characteristics, and it if very expensive because we may not find it often at the stores. It starts to blossom in the second half of May and blossoms until half of June in the Mediterranean area (Croatia). The most familiar areas covered in sage are the islands of Cres, Pag, Krk and the Littoral, but it may also be found on almost all islands and the Adriatic coast.
