SEA BASS

A sea bass is from the (Dicentrarchus labrax), Moronidae Family. Its body is in form of missile and its skin is covered with big scales and its back is in dully grey and its abdomen is in pearl-gray. It reminds of salmon trout due to its little black spots. While the backs of young sea basses are covered with black spots; the backs of adolescent ones are without spots or they are in dark colour. They have got also teeth on their tongues. They might be of size between 40 and 100 cm. In general, they are of 8 to 10 kg. Some of them may also have weight of up to 15 kg. The meat of this fish includes no fat and it is quite delicious. It is better to cook it under steam or with grilling it.

However, it is a known reality that the quantity of fishes obtained through fishing is not sufficient to cover the demand of human population gradually increasing.

Its meat does not contain any fat and is very-tasted. It is eaten freshly and might be encountered in seashores Of turkey such as Black Sea, Marmara and Mediterranean. It is fished in generally during the period of time between May and October.

They multiply during the months between May and August in Mediterranean. They are carnivorous and vulturous. They live by eating shrimps, little fishes, shore crabs and grub worms.


It is claimed by specialist that the fish meat contains Omega-3 beside calcium, iron and phosphate; it is also indicated that this acid "Omega-3" is not contained by other animal products such as meat, milk and cheese. Omega-3 prevents the blockage of artery by preventing the formation of blood clot. So it helps to decrease cholesterol, diminish hearth attack, vascular diseases and paralysis risk. As the fish does not contain too much fat, it is an indispensable aliment in weight-reducing diets. Specialists
