Named after the first settlement area of Hobart Town and the site where this whisky was distilled. Distillers description: Double distilled in a copper pot still, this single malt whisky is crafted from Tasmanian barley brewed with the worlds cleanest, soft, river water sourced form the mountains around the Hobart area. This non-peated spirit is matured in French Oak port or American Oak Bourbon barrels for a minimum of 7 years. This is rare, natural and unique single malt offers the connoisseur the real flavour of traditional whisky free of colours or flavours. The four year old French oak port cask matured whisky achieved a bronze medal at the 2005 Australian Malt Whisky Awards Comments from Jim Murray a well known British whisky judge and critic about the Sullivans Cove Single Malt &the flavour is outstanding. The body is big and lush, the intensity of the malt is a sheer delight. Fabulous balance between the sweet malt and the intervening oak which ends with a big cocoa finale which shows some decent aging. At the moment your malt is highly enjoyable, at times brilliant& Comments form Michael Jackson another published whisky writer and critic wrote this comment about our whisky in his latest book full gold; smooth;leathery and dry.
