Moving the patient up toward the head
using his/her strength
The patient raises the hips and pushes out with both feet by using his/her own
strength to move up toward the head.
(This process may become easier if you place a non-slip sheet under the patient's feet.)
If the patient lacks strength in his/her legs, slightly raise the hips with a little push from
the patient and push the hips to move the whole body up toward the head.
Use the Izaemon Hip Belt if the patient is having a hard time pushing out with both feet.
Place the belt under the patient's sit bone and pull by straightening your arms.
If the patient is heavy or the mattress is too soft, place another sheet underneath
the hips and use the Izaemon Hip Belt.

Moving the patient to the side and repositioning
Reposition the patient so he/she faces the other way from the caregiver.
Place the sheet underneath the patient's body.
Bring back the body to the original position and move the patient
toward you while supporting the shoulders and the hips.
If using a bath towel, place the sheet underneath the towel and pull the towel to move
the patient to the side.
The patient can be turned over in bed by pulling the bath towel diagonally upward.
