Detailed introduction to Spanish wines and Cavas:

The Conca de Barberà is a southern Catalonian region (north-east of Spain) with an extension of 649 km2. Its natural conditions, together with its history and traditions, make it a privileged zone for cultivating grapevines and elaborating excellent wines and cava.

Is in that privileged zone where the Sarral Vinicultural Cooperative was born in 1907. In a beautiful modernist winery the men of Sarral founded what is today one of the most important wine grower co-operative of Conca de Barberà, Catalonia and Spain. With the rebirth of the vineyards, after the attack of the phylloxera plague, new varieties were planted: parellada, macabeo, ull de llebre (tempranillo) and the native trepat, an authentic jewel that is only found in Conca de Barberà. Trepat is a black grape variety, with a fine pale colour, that grows only in the perfect microclimate of Tarragona's province. The berry is large and round, with a middle thickness skin.

Today, the wines and cavas of the Sarral Co-operative compete in international markets. The exports grow annually, mainly directed towards countries of the EU. This is why every day in the hearts of the vine growers of Sarral an illusion is born: that of continuously improving their work to achieve the highest quality in their musts.
