This nonglutinous rice; Khao Chao was exhaustively selected for its breed of 4-2-105 which contains those outstanding quality and properties; slight long grain, translucent white, aromatic, and barrenness resistance. It was approved for cultivation by the National Committee since May 25, 1959 and also named "Khao Dawk Mali 105 or Thai Hom Mali Rice". Those mean both white and Brown rice which are produced from its paddy. This type of photoperiod sensitive varieties of Thai Hom Mali Rice cultivated in Thailand during single crop rice provides natural scent while and after cooking; related to its kept time. The well cooked Thai Hom Mali Rice actually provides its softness, slightness, and clinging rice. Moreover, Khao Dawk Mali 105 or Photoperiod Sensitive Varieties rice needs short daylight period to change its trunks and leaves growth for breeding. In addition, this type of rice will provide productivity during the period of shorter daytime. Each type of rice needs different period of sunlight but mostly less than 12 hours a day, so rice is related to season of planting and separated into 3 kinds; quick maturing varieties of paddy flowering Sep. - Oct., medium maturing varieties of paddy flowering end of Oct. - Nov., and long maturing varieties of paddy flowering Dec. - Jan.
