Copra meal or copra cake, is the residue produced from coconut oil extraction by mechanical or solvent process. A solid residue of copra after it has been mechanically pressed to extract the coconut oil. This is used mainly as an ingredient in the production of animal feeds and other types of feeds for poultry and aquaculture.
Copra meal is used as fodder for horses and cattle. Its high oil and protein levels are fattening for stock. The protein in copra meal has been heat treated and provides a source of high-quality protein for cattle, sheep and deer, because it does not break down in the rumen.
