[Introduction of Dihydromyricetin]

Ampelopsis grossedentata also vine tea is called Teng Cha in China, as a Chinese Herbal Medicine it has a glycol flavor, the nature is cool; it can alleviate fevers, drunkness, cure rheumatism, strengthen physique, diuresis, and many other functions.

Ampelopsis grossedentata contains rich flavones, amino acids, vitamins; Proteins and essential trace element.

The flavones are mainly dihydromyricetin, myricetin, quercetin, quercetin-5-O-²–D-glucoside, taxifolin, apiin.

 

Some of flavonoids, for example Ampelopsin and Dihydromyricetin, are main active ingredients in vine tea, which have almost same MIC and MBC comparing with berberine, and have high Free radical scavenging activity varies between 73.3~91.5%. It can also reduce oxidative damage in the body, anti-aging, reduce the deformation and tissue necrosis of animal liver. Dihydromyricetin also have ability on lifting alcohol poisoning, prevent for AFL, Inhibit the deterioration of liver cells, decrease the incidence of liver cancer. In these case Dihydromyricetin is consider as a good product for enhance activity of SOD, protecting liver and removing inebriation. Dihydromyricetin now entered clinical trials as a class of new drugs when researcher of Dihydromyricetin achieved a major breakthrough in field of anti-leukemia and medicine of Nasopharyngeal cancer. Ampelopsis injection is expected to be a new treatment for leukemia and nasopharyngeal cancer.

 

Biological Activity

Dihydromyricetin (Ampelopsin (flavanol); Ampeloptin) is a natural antioxidant with good prospects. The physicochemical properties of dihydromyricetin (Ampelopsin (flavanol); Ampeloptin) were analyzed by ultraviolet–visible spectrometry, infrared spectrometry, scanning electron microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, X-ray diffractometry. The result showed that dihydromyricetin (Ampelopsin (flavanol); Ampeloptin) and lecithin in the complex were combined by non-covalent bond, did not form a new compound and the solubility of dihydromyricetin in n-octanol was significantly enhanced. It was found that the dihydromyricetin–lecithin complex was an effective scavenger of DPPH radicals with an IC50 of 22.60 μg/mL. In the Rancimat antioxidant test using lard oil as substrate, the performance of the complex with protection factor of 6.67 was superior to that of butylated hydroxytoluene with protection factor of 5.54.
