The "Gubana" was born as a holiday cake in the Natisone Valleys, to the East of Cividale del Friuli; it is made according to ancient traditions for holidays and family festivities. As a dessert cake it is not linked to a specific season any more, and it has been coupled with Vanilla ice creams in summer, with Grappa brandies in winter, and with Ramandolo and Verduzzo wines in spring and autumn. It can be enjoyed by consumers of all ages, and it is easily digestible and tasty.
