ABOUT CHINESE PEAR

There are actually numerous cultivars of the Chinese pears.

Chinese pears differ from the traditional European ones.

These are usually round or oval or pyriform, reach prime quality when they ripen on the tree, and are ready to eat after harvest.

These pears are crisp, juicy, white to lightly yellow, slightly sweet with some tartness, especially near the core.

Chinese pears are known for keeping well.

It is okay to store pears a week at room temperature or up to three months or longer in the refrigerator.
