Historically compressed teas were produced particularly for border trades at remote areas, for example southwest of China. Tea cake processing “transforms” the properties of tea to some extent and enhances its “adaptability” for long distance transportation. New-born white tea cake is slightly fermented. The compressed form also allows the inherent characters of tea to be “preserved” for long term development. Given favorable conditions, white tea cake will undergo naturally fermentation with physical and chemical transformation at a sustainable pace as time goes by.

We hand source our teas directly from the organic farms around Taimu Mountain in Fuding (northeastern Fujian Province, China). Additionally, our Fuding white variety is produced using only the traditional tea processing techniques unique to white teas.
