THE FARM
Owned by Manuel Correia da Silva e Sá, and today an area of about 17 hectares, Quinta de Gomariz is located in the subregion of Vale do Ave, the heart of the Vinho Verde region, making their vineyards enjoy excellent characteristics for the production of high quality green wines, combining the rustic main castes of the region.
The vineyards are located in loam soils of light texture and well drained, offering excellent sun exposure, granting their Grapes a golden color, easily reaching full maturity, so their wines are the best of the entire region.
THE REGION
The current demarcated region of Vinho Verde extends across the northwest, the area traditionally known as Entre-Douro-e-Minho.
Its northern limits to the Minho River (border with Galicia), to the east and south by mountain areas that constitute the natural separation between the Entre-Douro-e-Minho Atlantic and the areas of the country more interior with more Mediterranean features, and finally the Atlantic Ocean which is its western limit.
Orthographically, the region presents itself as "a vast amphitheater, the waterfront, gradually rising to the inside" (Amorim Girão), exposing the entire area to the influence of the Atlantic Ocean, a phenomenon reinforced by the orientation of the valleys of the principal rivers, spring that ran west to facilitate penetration of the sea winds.
