We never dreamt that people all over the country would fall in love with Yorkshire Tea.

For three generations our family business has blended tea for our Bettys Tea Rooms here in Yorkshire. Customers were always asking us to open more tea shops, but we were content for Bettys to stay small and local. Instead we decided to put our tea into packets, and Yorkshire Tea was born.

It turned out to be even more popular than we ever imagined. Once people had enjoyed its rich, satisfying taste, they told their friends and word spread quickly beyond the borders of Yorkshire to the rest of the country.

Our tea tasters sample hundreds of teas every week, just to find the few good enough for Yorkshire Tea, and we even take the time and trouble to blend our tea to suit your water, whether its hard or soft. We also believe that our traditional square Tea bags are the best because they allow the full flavour of the tea to develop.

As a family business with strong values, we deal fairly with the people who grow our tea.

Our tea buyers visit tea estates personally to select only the finest teas, according to the season. By investing in long-term partnerships and paying fair prices, we can secure the pick of the crop for our customers, while making a positive difference to the quality of our teas and the lives of the growers.

We are also members of the Ethical Tea Partnership, which works to monitor living and working conditions on tea estates with the aim of making sure that the tea you buy from members of the Partnership has been produced in a socially responsible way.
