Typical of the local rubble-walled country side, Opuntia Ficus-Indica, commonly called Prickly Pear, has been introduced from the America's into the mediterranean region in the later 15th century. Eventually, it found its home in a prolific way in Malta and Gozo and has lent itself to various delicates. Zeppi's Bajtra liqueur is one of them and can be enjoyed neat or as a thirst-quenching long drink. A tot of Zeppi's mixed with half a glass of Chardonnay wine topped up with cool fizzy lemonade provokes a unique and enticing taste.
