Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC), also known as cellulose gum, is an anionic linear polymer compound derived from natural cellulose. Through alkalization and etherification reactions, followed by refining, drying, and pulverization processes, the water-insoluble natural cellulose is converted into the water-soluble CMC. CMC is widely recognized as an "industrial monosodium glutamate" due to its broad-ranging applications and versatile functionality.
Our food grade CMC is a white or off-white fibrous or granular powder. It is odorless, tasteless, and hygroscopic. The product is easily dispersible in water, forming a transparent colloidal solution with excellent thickening, stabilizing, emulsifying, suspending, water-binding, and film-forming properties. It is insoluble in ethanol and other organic solvents.
