Cultivated only in Greece, Kalamata olives is the most renowned and sought after olive in the world, distinguished for its shiny purple-black colour, unique almond shape, firm texture and delicious taste. Once harvested, Kalamatas are split to allow the red wine Vinegar and herbs in the brine to fully saturate with the meaty flesh. Kalamata olives are the perfect compliment to salads and they make a delicious addition to sauces.
While olives are delicious eaten straight from their brine, they truly show their versatility when rinsed with water, dressed with extra virgin olive oil, and sprinkled with such flavorings as oregano, thyme, red pepper and garlic.
