Lemongrass is a plant which grows and develops well in tropical climates. Its stems grow in bushes with height around 0.5 meters. It belongs to the family Poaceae. Because it has the aroma of lemon, it has the name lemongrass. It is native to Sri Lanka and South India. Nowadays, it has been grown in many countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and much more. That is why it is a very popular spice in Asia.
Among more than 45 types of lemongrass, only lemongrass is edible. Rose lemongrass and java lemongrass can only be used to extract essential oils.
