Indications:
1. For aversion to cold, fever, headache, adiaphoresis and arthralgia due to exopathogenic wind-cold-dampness, the herb is often used in combination with ledebouriella root (Radix Ledebouriellae), chuanxiong rhizome (Rhizoma Ligustici chuanxiong), atractylodes rhizome (Rhizoma Atractylodis), etc. To expell wind, disperse cold and relieve pain, as in Notopterygium Decoction of Nine Ingredients (Jiu Wei Qiang Huo Tang).
2. For arthralgia due to wind-cold-dampness, pain in limbs and joints, especially pain in upper part of the body, the herb is often used together with ledebouriella root and turmeria (Rhizoma Curcumae longae).
