Chamomile, also spelled camomile, is an annual plant of the composite family Asteraceae. Chamomile extract is derived from the flower of Matricaria recutita (Synonyms are: Chamomilla chamomilla, Chamomilla recutita, Matricaria chamomilla, and Matricaria suaveolens). Apigenin, the active ingredient of Chamomile extract, is a flavone that is the aglycone of several glycosides.

Function

1. Chamomile has proved to be quite useful in treating inflammation inside the body, which often leads to gastrointestinal problems, like heartburn, diverticular disorders, and inflammatory bowel disease;
