The 1998 Terra Rosa First Growth offers a ruby/purple color as well as a classic bouquet of black currants, cedar, and high class French oak. If Jean-Michel Cazes (the proprietor of Lynch Bages) was making wine in Australia, this is what it would taste like - deep and full-bodied, with attractively integrated acidity, tannin, and alcohol.

 

Anticipated maturity: 2003-2020. Sadly, there are only 1,500 cases, since only 5% of the estate's fruit is used for this cuvee.

 

Dark, dense red; the bouquet exudes ripe Blackberry and chocolate aromas, with no green characters whatsoever. The palate is similarly dense and ripe (not jammy) with the flavours promised by the bouquet; fine tannins and good oak handling round off a classy wine.
