Properties:

1. white mercerized scaly or needle crystal, a slight odor of benzoin or benzaldehyde, sublimation at about 100 °C relative density1.316 , boiling point249.2°C , melting point121.7°C .

 

2. Insoluble in water(0.34g/100ml, 25°C) , soluble in boiling water (4.55g/100ml, 90 °C), ethanol, chloroform and ether as well as non-volatile oil and volatile oil.
