Anise is a very versatile spice. It is used in cookies, bread, canning beets, red cabbage canning. It is also suitable for apple and pear compote. Pinch of anise can also be used to enhance the flavor of mushrooms and fish. It is also a component of a mixture of spices (curry, etc..) In Indian and Chinese kitchens anise is often found in meat dishes. It is used in liqueurs and also as medicinal tea component and to remove food odors (oil, fish, etc..) and to automatize them.
In cooking fresh anise leaves, ground fruit and and anise stars are used. They are added to pies, cookies, muffins especially Christmas gingerbread as well as milk and fruit soups, porridge, creams and cakes.
