terpenes. Like many carotenoids, it is a colorful, lipid-soluble pigment. Astaxanthin is
found in microalgae, yeast, Salmon, trout, krill, shrimp, crayfish, crustaceans, and the
feathers of some birds. It provides the red color of salmon meat and cooked shellfish.
