Caffeic Acid Powder
1.Introduction
Caffeic acid, an organic acid, the formula C9H8O4, molecular weight 180.15, is obtained as yellow crystals from a concentrated aqueous solution, to give a monohydrate from dilute aqueous solutions. Decomposition point 223~225°(soften at 194°). Slightly soluble in water, soluble in hot water and cold ethanol. It can be used safely in cosmetics and has a wide range of antibacterial and antiviral activities. Can absorb ultraviolet light. I.e., having a low concentration inhibiting skin type hair dye additives help enhance the strength of the color.

3.Functions
1. Antibacterial and antiviral: It has a wide range of antibacterial effects, but it can be inactivated by protein in the body. In vitro tests showed antiviral activity against vaccinia and adenovirus strong inhibitory effect, followed by polio type Ⅰ and parainfluenza virus type Ⅲ.
2. Anti-venom: Caffeic acid can completely inhibit 20 micrograms of rattlesnake venom phosphodiesterase at a dose of 3 micrograms, and is used as an anti-venom.
3. Other effects: oral or intraperitoneal injection, caffeic acid can increase excitability in rats; oral, increased secretion of hydrochloric acid in the human stomach, and enables slow pulse; can enhance the tension of the uterus, this effect may be It was antagonized by opioids, but does not affect atropine; elevated leucocytes, bleeding and the like inactivation of vitamin B1. It has the effect of shortening blood clotting and bleeding time.
