Calcium Ascorbate could be added in soup and soup-type foods and supply the calcium without changing the original taste of food and losing physical activity of VC. So it is bifunctional agent in preventing rachitis and scurvy. Calcium Ascorbate features wide use, early development, easy synthesis, less pollution, high efficiency and lower costs. Of our food additives and food ingredients.
Calcium ascorbate is a compound with the molecular formula CaC12H14O12. Calcium ascorbate is the calcium salt of ascorbic acid, one of the mineral ascorbates.

As a food additive, Calcium ascorbate has the E number E302. Among its many uses is to keep apples fresh, so they do not turn brown quickly. This process arose out of a CRADA[clarification needed] with the USDA and Mantrose Haeuser, a U.S speciality coatings manufacturer, who hold a joint patent covering the application of calcium ascorbate to maintain shelflife in freshcut fruit and vegetables.
Calcium ascorbate is a natural form of vitamin C and also a compound made up of Vitamin C ( ascorbic acid ) and calcium. Calcium ascorbate is vitamin C in buffered form for people sensitive stomachs because it is less acidic and it is easier on the digestive tract. Calcium ascorbate can allow higher doses without the unwanted side effects like diarrhea and stomach aches that may be experienced by sensitive individuals when taking pure vitamin C. The advantage of taking calcium ascorbate is that it allows one to take a single substance while delivering the benefits of both vitamin C and calcium.

Calcium ascorbate is commonly taken in supplement form. The Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of calcium ascorbate in nonsmokers is 75 mg/day for women and 90 mg/day for men. The amount of 110 mg/ day for women and 125 mg/day for men is the RDA for smokers.

Vitamin C is known for its importance in the immune system as this helps the body to distinguish which is good and which is not. As it is commonly known, Calcium ascorbate is effective against colds and fever. Calcium ascorbate is also known as an antioxidant, and one of the best known free radical scavengers. This provides us protection against foreign invaders that come from the food we eat and the air we breathe. On the other hand, it is widely known that calcium is needed for long term health and stronger bones.

Vitamin C is a water soluble vitamin, thus, the body cannot store vitamin C as it is dissolved in the fluids inside the body. This fact makes supplementation important. Vitamin C is especially needed in the body during times of stress. Calcium ascorbate also acts as a detoxifier to cleanse the body of toxins. Calcium ascorbate also shortens the severity of a cold.

Calcium ascorbate is also known for it being an effective immune booster. Calcium ascorbate helps in fighting foreign objects that invade the body and other bacterial infections. The calcium component promotes bone and tooth formation, and it has also been found out that it is also anti-carcinogenic, antitumorigenic and also prevents prostate cancer.

People who wish to strengthen their bones and muscles may benefit from this vitamin. Calcium ascorbate can also delay the aging process or in some way, helps in slow aging. People who need Vitamin C the most are those people who are severely ill since they are having difficulty absorbing the nutrients from foods. Calcium ascorbate will help in providing enough vitamin C for their recovery. Athletes and the elderly can also benefit from taking this supplement.

Calcium ascorbate must be taken into consideration though, that overdosing of calcium carbonate may cause kidney stones and other gastrointestinal side effects such as diarrhea and stomach upsets. In taking any kind of supplement, advice from the physician must be consulted first.
Here is where you will learn about the Vitamin C used in both Life Glow Plus and Super Life Glow.

The least expensive form of Vitamin C is called Ascorbic Acid.  There is nothing wrong with it although there are much fancier forms of Vitamin C that have various characteristics that make them preferable in many situations.

Vibrant Life is working on a project to bring more information about Vitamin C to you than any other source on the web, and even more interesting, to offer you lower prices for a large variety of types of Vitamin C than any other place on the web.

The amino acid, cysteine, is the most important ingredient in an oral chelation formula.  There needs to be a minimum of 300 milligrams of it per day to get the "oral chelation" effect.  Life Glow Plus contains 300 milligrams in the recommended daily dosage, plus another 300 mg of the stronger form of cysteine -- N Acetyl Cysteine.

Cysteine is a substance that needs to be balanced in ANY formula with Vitamin C in a quantity of about 4 or 5 times as much as there is cysteine.

Thus, if you have 300 milligrams of cysteine in a formula, you need to have between 2,000 and 3,000 milligrams of Vitamin C.

So, Life Glow Plus has 3,000 milligrams of Vitamin C.

Most people have not taken such a large dose of Vitamin C.  Many people think they are doing very well when they take 500 milligrams, or even 1,000 milligrams of Vitamin C.   Vitamin C is so cheap and so beneficial that just about everyone ought to be taking much larger doses.

Critics claim that such large doses are wasted -- as proven by the fact that your urine turns yellow.  They say that the yellow urine is the excess Vitamin C.

Well, that may well be true.  But another truth is that the human body cannot manufacture Vitamin C.  We need to get it from food and supplements.

Another thing about Vitamin C is that it is a "water soluble" vitamin which means that it "washes out" of the body every day.  Yesterday's excess Vitamin C is gone today!

Finally, and related to the "wash out" comment, Vitamin C does not get stored in the body.

So, you DO need Vitamin C every day.

Now, how much do you need?
Well, you can have a sudden demand placed on the body where several thousand milligrams of Vitamin C might be "used up" in just a few hours.  Or, you may go through several very calm days, no stress, and not need more than a small amount of Vitamin C each of those days.

This is surely one of the cheapest forms of health insurance ever invented.

You take 3,000 milligrams of Vitamin C because that is necessary to balance the 300 milligrams of Cysteine.

But, more than that, you then have all that yellow urine to tell you that, on that day, your insurance policy of Vitamin C was not used.  Good for you!

What you should worry about is when and if your urine is NOT yellow.  That might mean that ALL the vitamin C you are taking got used up and that, perhaps, you should even take MORE!

If you want to supplement Life Glow Plus, or Super Life Glow, with additional vitamins, or additional quantities of any of the ingredients, you can certainly do that.

There are very effective tests for Vitamin C -- where you deliberately take larger and larger doses, each day, until you get diarrhea.  THEN, you reduce your dosage so that you don't have diarrhea.  It's called the "bowel tolerance test," and usually would be done under the supervision of a doctor.   It would not be unusual for a very sick person (that's when you would normally do this test) to discover that they can use 50,000 milligrams of Vitamin C without getting diarrhea, and without their urine turning yellow.  When you are THAT sick, THAT quantity of Vitamin C could be very beneficial to you.
We decided NOT to use the cheaper form of Vitamin C in our Life Glow Plus and Super Life Glow, but instead used "calcium ascorbate."  This is simply a form of Ascorbic Acid which has been "buffered" with calcium so that there would be less chance of an upset to the stomach.

Incidentally, the calcium which "comes along" with Calcium Ascorbate is, in fact, calcium carbonate.  That is NOT intended to be a high quality source of calcium.  On our label we show that calcium separate from the Vitamin C, so sometimes people think that we have deliberately added a cheap form of calcium to our formula.   No.  We simply added a slightly more expensive form of Vitamin C, and showed the calcium portion of that Calcium Ascorbate separately on the label.

Calcium Ascorbate is a natural form of Vitamin C, which is much more readily absorbed in the blood stream than the other forms of calcium. Importantly, calcium is coupled with Vitamin C to deliver the benefits of both calcium & Vitamin C.

Awareness of the necessity of calcium for long term bone health has grown substantially and calcium fortification has exploded across the food chain.

While Vitamin C is the most commonly known vitamin, its health promoting benefits go beyond its ready availability. It is effective against common colds and it is one of the best-known free radical scavengers.

Action of Calcium Ascorbate
When ingested, Calcium Ascorbate is hydrolyzed in the stomach to give calcium and ascorbate ion. The HCl in the stomach converts this ascorbate ion to ascorbic acid. Thus there is no net increase in the acid concentration in the stomach.

The free ascorbate ion may again chelate with the calcium & is readily assimilated. This temporary chelation of ascorbate ion with calcium protects it from oxidation to dehydro ascorbic acid and subsequent rapid oxidative degradation in the duodenum.

Calcium Ascorbate – Its advantages
The severely ill who need Vitamin C the most, are often suffering from nausea and diarrhea and such individuals are already in a downward spiral. They cannot absorb the nutrients that they need to regain their health, thus they become even more ill. The gentleness of Calcium Ascorbate allows them to take sufficient vitamin C to help the healing process. Calcium Ascorbate is a neutral salt and not an acid, therefore, more people can take larger amounts without acid upset or diarrhea. Equally important is that Calcium Ascorbate replenishes the calcium that is excreted in the urine due to the chelating properties of Vitamin C.

One way to guarantee that vitamin C does not remove more calcium than that ingested is to take vitamin C as Calcium Ascorbate. Also Calcium Ascorbate is better than Sodium ascorbate as a source of Ascorbic acid because sodium often raise blood pressure and also for every 500 mg of sodium ascorbate one ingest 60 mg of sodium also. The sodium ascorbate is readily dissociated into sodium and ascorbate as sodium does not form chelates.

Uses
Calcium ascorbate is not only recommended for athletes and the elderly but also for those who wish to strengthen their muscle and bones and to hold the aging process at bay.
Calcium ascorbate is an immune booster and aids in fighting bacterial infections. It is a strong antioxidant destroying free radicals in the body. It is anti-carcinogenic, antitumorigenic and promotes bone and tooth formation. It may aid in lowering blood cholesterol level and slows the aging process. It also helps prevent prostate cancer.

Summary
Being a neutral salt, its gentleness is natural and with no need for gas-releasing harsh buffers usually used in "buffered" vitamin c formulas.
Thus calcium ascorbate has numerous advantages as a source of vitamin C and calcium. It is gentle to the stomach and helps replace any calcium that vitamin c might remove from their system
