CMC is also called the "industrial alcohol". It is the most widely used product with the largest output and the simplest method of application in cellulose ether.
It is the white or milk white fibrous powder or particles with no odor, smell or toxicity. CMC is not dissolved in organic solvents like methanol, ethanol, propanol and benzene, but easily dissolved in water.
The main character of CMC is that it can form colloid or solution with high viscosity, and its other characters include: adhesion, thickening, flowing, emulsification, water preserving, colloid protection, film-forming, acid resistance, salt resistance and suspension
