Glycerol is the backbone component of the triglyceride molecule. When the human body consumes edible fat, the triglyceride therein is metabolized by the body to form glycerol and stored in the fat cells. Therefore, the final products of triglyceride metabolism are glycerol and fatty acids. Can be used as a solvent, lubricant, pharmaceutical and sweetener.
