This resin is obtained via incisions from the Styrax tonkinensis tree and the pieces are orange-reddish in colour and when you break the pieces you find they have a white centre. Just smelling from the bag, the resin which contains chiefly benzoic acid and its esters, exudes an odour that is exactly as you would expect from smelling the resinoid, sweet-balsamic with a benzoin tart sweetness. Great on the oil burner** and also used for incense and religious purposes.” Botanical Name: Styrax tonkinensis
