I have chosen to offer Ethiopian Myrrh to start with (19/05/18) instead of the Southern Arabian materials on the grounds I actually think the Ethiopian material is superior aromatically. If you smell the aroma neat it has all the hallmarks of classic myrrh but in a muted and softer fashion. However burn this and it is so distinctive, astringent, bitter, incredibly aromatic and reminiscent in smell to the taste of the water you gargle at the dentists after a check-up.
Exquisite material, used in religious ceremonies, as incense, on the charcoal disks and once again another material for tincturing as you get a lot of nuances in this that are lost within the essential oil and absolute offerings. The resin pieces are dark red to red brown and to get the best from this on an oil burner** I would encourage you to take your mortar and grind the pieces down into fine powder.”
