Graviola also known as Guanabana or Soursop (Annona muricata) grows between 0 – 1000msnm and it has been cultivated since pre-Hispanic times. Archaeologist have found representations of ceramic fruit in the Chimu culture and it was first described by the Spanish historian Gonzalo Fernandez de Oviedo y Valdes in 1526 and was exported to different countries by Spanish explorers.
Graviola is grown throughout tropical South America region. All parts of the graviola tree are used in natural medicine in the tropics, including the bark, leaves, roots, fruit, and fruit seeds. Different properties and usages are attributed to the different parts of Graviola tree.
Research on Graviola
Graviola leaves contains active ingredients known as annonaceous acetogenins that are superior to those of Adriamycin recognized antitumor properties.
Graviola has been prove to be 10,000 times more effective than Adriamicyn, used in chemotherapy. Graviola, in contrast, acts selectively, killing only cancerous cells, without damaging the healthy cells. This is not the case with Adriamicyn, as shown by hair loss.
It is known through research studies done by Dr. H. Clark (1) that there is a very tight relation between cancer and parasites: cancer patients are also infected with parasites (human as well as feline and canine), which create toxins inside them.
