Superior taste award
Greek saffron’s coloring power is consistently above 250 points compared to ISO first quality standard level of 190 points ( 66 points more than the best quality of ISO measurement)!! Its quality is measured objectively and effectively in the laboratory.
(This quality level is due to climate conditions and drying process we follow in Greece). This year we scored 282 points.
There are 4 saffron quality categories from I to IV. The best is category I: minimum accepted coloring power is 190 points. We have all available certificates proving our claim. Our crop is only category I. We do not sell other origin or quality grade, we sell only our producers’ crop.
WHY GREEK RED SAFFRON?
Eleven certified saffron samples from Azerbaijan, China, Greece, France, India, Iran, Italy, New Zealand, Spain, Turkey and the Stigma Technical Company were analyzed using the HPLC Photoiode array detection method.
This analysis quantified the 10 major compounds in each sample and their concentration was analyzed at three different wavelengths. Results indicated that the Greek, Indian, New Zealand and Spanish saffron extracts possessed the highest concentrations of water-soluble glycosidic carotenoids (P8.0%), suggesting they are a valuable source of this types of metabolites for future biological evaluation.
