Baical skullcap root extract is used widely as an ethnobotanical herb for the treatment of various ailments ranging from cancers, cirrhosis, jaundice, hepatitis, anxiety and nervous disorders.

For more than 2000 years, Chinese baical skullcap (Huang qin in Chinese) has remained one of the most important medicinal plants in traditional Chinese herbal medicine. Chinese baical skullcap has shown anti-arthritic and anti-inflammatory properties, making it useful as an herbal arthritis treatment.

This plant is a potent antioxidant, which may make this herb helpful in preventing heart disease and limiting the damage to the heart following a heart attack.
