Ferulic acid is an antioxidant which neutralizes free radicals (superoxide, nitric oxide and hydroxyl radical) which could cause oxidative damage of cell membranes and DNA. Ferulic acid helps to prevent damage to our cells caused by ultraviolet light. Exposure to ultraviolet light actually increases the antioxidant potency of ferulic acid. Physical properties: has two kinds of cis and trans and cis for yellow oily matter, trans for square or fiber crystallization, melting point is 174 ℃, soluble in hot water, ethanol and ethyl acetate, slightly soluble in ether, soluble in benzene and petroleum ether.

The chemical name of Ferulic Acid is 4-hydroxy 3-methoxycinnamic Acid, which is one of the derivatives of cinnamic Acid (also known as cinnamic Acid, 3-phenyl 2-acrylic Acid, molecular structure).Ferulic acid (sodium ferulic acid) has the effects of anti-platelet aggregation, inhibiting platelet 5-hydroxytryptamine release, inhibiting the generation of platelet thrombin a2(txa2), enhancing the activity of prostaglandin, analgesic and relieving vasospasm.It is the basic material for the production of drugs for the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and leukopenia.
Functions
