Chemical Characteristics
HTPB is a translucent liquid, similar in color to waxed paper, with strong stickiness.The nature is uncertain because the HTPB is manufactured at different levels to meet different requirements.HTPB is a general term for a class of compounds.In rocketry, it's called RBS as a high-energy fuel.But not easy to ignite, the temperature needs to be over 773K to burn.In the pyrotechnics industry, it also serves as a pipe for fireworks.It is insoluble in water and can be a good sealant.The curing agent of HTPB is usually toluene diisocyanate or other isocyanate compounds.
Usage:
HTPB is commonly used in solid rocket engines to condense fuel and oxidants into solid materials.N2O (nitrous oxide, or laughing gas) is used as an oxidant.
