Due to the rather high cost of lotus root, our company is the sole Japanese domestic producer of this rare item. It is a highly-esteemed food, and somewhat of a lucky charm, due to the Japanese belief that through the holes of lotus root one can glance the future. The striking shape of this food stands alone among vegetable confections.

♦ It is said that foods labeled as "natural foods" and "confectioneries" make up less than 0.01% of the Japanese domestic food supply. The sales and distribution of such products are handled not by regular supermarkets or co-op stores, but rather by wholesale purchasing cooperatives that have much higher production standards.
