White Peony. King Bai Mu Dan White tea
Other names: Chinese name: Bai Mu Dan is also known as Pai Mu Tan and White Peony White Tea.
Brewing Guide: 1 to 2 teaspoon (2 grams) of tea leaves is recommended for every 150ml (5 oz) of water. Ideal water temperature is between 85C (185F) to 90C (194F). For the first and second brewing, leaves should be steeped for about one minute. Gradually increase water temperature and steeping time for subsequent brewing. It is also recommended that you use porcelain or glass-based teaware. Warm the steeping vessels by rinsing them with hot water prior to brewing.
Brewing methods vary widely by tea and individual preferences. The brewing instruction above is a only a simple guideline but will produce an excellent cup nonetheless. As with any tea, do experiment and do share with us your brewing techniques to get the best out of this tea.
Bai Mu Dan is the second finest White tea after Yin Zhen. Our Bai Mu Dan is made from carefully picked tea buds and leaves from the Da Bai (Big White) strain of tea trees, undergoing just steaming and drying to leave it close to its natural state. Like Yin Zhen, Bai Mu Dan is known to have anti-toxin and cooling properties to help to decrease body heat.
This is a special Cha Wang (Tea King) grade of Bai Mu Dan and is exclusively made for TeaSpring. Only the best tea leaves picked in early spring are used.
Taste:
The fragrance is refreshingly sweet while the taste is smooth and refreshingly delicate. The soft taste gradually changes into floral sweetness. Later infusions have hints of chestnut taste. This complexity in taste is rare for white teas.
Appearance:
Tea leaves are made from downy 1 bud 2 leaves variety. The buds of Cha Wang grade Bai Mu Dan is larger than the leaves.
