NP Nutra offers a High Quality Lucuma Fruit Powder. Further products such as Lucuma Pulp are available upon request.
Lucuma fruit is very nutritious. It is also low in acid, low in sugar, and is an excellent source of carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins and minerals. It is particularly rich in beta carotene, niacin and iron, as well as zinc, potassium, calcium, magnesium and vitamin B3.
Despite its natural sweetness, Lucuma is low on the glycemic index, making it an ideal alternative sweetener.*
The Lucuma tree is found at temperate elevations, growing from 25 to 50 feet high, with deep, drought-resistant roots. It produces fruits year round, and one tree can produce as many as 500 fruits a year.
Lucuma fruit is popular because of its delightful taste, often compared to that of maple syrup. The fruit is egg-shaped, and yellow-green when ripe. Beneath the thin skin, a dry and starchy yellow-orange flesh is found. While some Lucuma fruits are sold in local markets in South America, most Lucuma produced commercially is dehydrated for export. It is often used for flavoring Ice cream and other dairy treats.
