MONTELLO AND ASOLO HILLS
For centuries the area of the Montello and the Asolo hills has been the ideal habitat for the vine.
The favorable climatic conditions, the substrate of gravel and clay in subsoil (which ensures optimal drainage of
rainwater) and, last but not least, man’s tireless work, have led these areas of the province of Treviso to be among
the most world-renowned as regards winemaking.
On these hills, but also in the flat areas on the two sides of the Piave River, grow the vineyards from which Villa
Raspi obtains its wines. These high quality products reflect the successful combination between tradition and
innovation expressed by these lands in the art of winemaking.
Art, indeed, and history. These places, which are mentioned in the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri and the
correspondence of Giorgione, were the center of the Renaissance court of the Queen Cornaro (Queen of Cyprus
exiled to Asolo in 1450) and the Republic of Venice.
The Montello and the Asolo hills host countless natural trails, and also reveal a culinary tradition to be
(re)descovered.
